Library

The library provides high-quality resources and creative programming, encouraging students to read for enjoyment and enrichment. The library staff collaborates with teachers to help develop the literacy skills of our students and teach them to find, evaluate, and ethically and creatively use information.

LCS Library Mission

The LCS Library is to model the example of Jesus Christ while providing services and resources that equip our students spiritually and academically.

The library provides a loving, respectful and ordered learning environment that is equipped with resources that support the acquisition of knowledge and an appreciation for literature, with an emphasis on a biblical worldview. The library staff collaborates with classroom teachers to help develop the literacy skills of our students and teach them to find, evaluate and ethically and creatively use information.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Kindergarten to Grade 6 community enjoys themed Scholastic Book Fairs each year. Parents can volunteer and students and families have the opportunities to visit. All proceeds support and provide quality literary resources for our main library and classroom libraries.

Birthday Book Club

Having your child join the Birthday Book Club is an opportunity to donate a book to our library while providing a lasting memento of your child’s special day. Last year, thanks to your support, we were able to add many new and exciting books to our collection.

During the month of each member’s birthday, the birthday honoree is invited to choose a book from the special “birthday shelf” of new books appropriate to each age group. A bookplate with your child’s first name and birthday is placed inside the book, and will appear in the computer record for the book. The birthday boy or girl then is the first person to check out the book. When the book is returned, it is placed in the appropriate collection for the other students to check out and enjoy, and it becomes a permanent part of our library collection. Children with birthdays in June, July and August will be able to sign out their birthday book in May.

To enroll your child(ren), please fill out the “Birthday Book Club” form below:
