Reading Submarine – We will have our kickoff on Monday, March 2nd. This will include a Reading Submarine, which will take place in our auditorium. Wonder and Whimsy will make an appearance to start off the assembly. With books in hand, K-6 students will “dive” down to the floor to read from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Stop, Drop and Read Day – On Tuesday, March 10th, K-8 students will carry a book with them throughout the day in order to ‘Stop, Drop and Read’ when the announcement is made.
Book Character Dress-Up Day – Friday, March 20th Students from K-6 are invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite fictional character. As with reading material, appropriate choices are encouraged (no Harry Potter, wizards, etc.)
“Under the Sea” Scholastic Book Fair – Our book fair will take place March 24th to 27th. Join us under the sea as we explore an ocean of books. Please consider volunteering / More information specific to the book fair below:
Weekly Fact Draw – Students will be invited to submit facts about the ocean, marine animals and anything under the sea. They will be dropped off in the library’s fishbowl, and we will choose a few to read at the end of each week.
Reading Contest – K-6 classes will have the opportunity to win a prize in addition to the Boston Pizza certificates for the most reading minutes (class total) for the month. Reading forms are due on April 6th.
Read & Win – As in previous years, K-8 students may choose to participate in the Read & Win reading program to earn Red River Exhibition admission and ride passes.
