Linden Student Wins Young Citizens Contest

Published on: October 23, 2014

Congratulations to Jenna A., a grade 10 student at Linden Christian School who recently was named a winner of the Young Citizens Contest (administered by Canada’s History Society) for her project on Nellie McClung. The contest involved over 150 participants from across Canada, who were selected following their regional heritage fairs and given the task of submitting short videos relating to the historical significance of their topic. All videos were posted online at YoungCitizens.ca and viewers were encouraged to vote for their favorite student video. Jenna was 1 of 22 winners selected (2 from each province) to travel to Ottawa for a special Youth Forum. The winners will be exploring the capital region together from October 30 – November 2, 2014. The students will spend a morning at the Canadian War Museum to share their projects with each other and deepen their knowledge of Canadian history.
