National School Run Day Bolstered Support for Cancer Research

Published on: October 6, 2016

On September 29, 2016, Linden Christian School collaborated with the 36th annual Terry Fox National School Run Day. Participating in the run was an excellent way to share Terry’s example of courage, strength and hope. The annual event cultivates compassion in our student body and brings all of our grade levels together in a unique way. Our community collectively raised $1,069.25 for the Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research. Students, family and staff ran for loved ones, friends and family, and cancer survivors. It was inspiring to see grade three students in Mrs. Moorhead’s class running in support of their classmate Matt. The support for Matt (who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for a rare form of abdominal cancer) and for many other community members was encouraging. The collective care, prayer and tangible support towards families facing cancer is so very valuable and cherished.

The generosity and support of our parents and community towards this special event is greatly appreciated. Many thanks to all who were involved in this years’ run.

This annual run is one of the largest fundraising events in Canadian history. It is an important day to celebrate survivorship of cancer patients, honour those we have lost to cancer and promote funding for cancer research. Donations for the Terry Fox Foundation will still be gratefully accepted via their website.
