Do you know how much potential energy a Dorito has?
The Grade 11 Biology students watched first hand how chemical potential energy stored in food can be released by means of combustion. The Dorito chip burned on it’s own for a long time meaning it contained a lot of potential energy. They also practiced making a glucose molecule, a simple sugar that our body metabolizes to give us energy.
We are so grateful that students can experience hands on learning in the new lab. During this Covid adapted school year there is room for each student to have a desk and the screens in the lab allow everyone to have a front row seat when watching the demonstrations.Back to news
