LCS Satellite Students Reunite at Transitional Learning Classroom Gathering

Did you know that Linden Christian School had a satellite classroom in the downtown/west end of Winnipeg from 2010 to 2016?

In the fall of 2010, LCS stepped out in faith to work with City Church to provide this school ministry. The Transitional Learning Classroom provided a unique learning setting for children who were newcomers to Canada. Students in Grades 1 through 5 learned the English language and Canadian culture within the Manitoba curriculum. The classroom was phased out in 2016, with many TLC students transitioning successfully to St. Aidan’s Christian School.

On September 16, 2023 the Transitional Learning Classroom (TLC) held a reunion at Calvary Temple. It was organized by former students and attended by the TLCs lead teacher, Mrs. Brenda Wiebe, Head of School/CEO, Mr. Robert Charach, and TLC staff members Stephanie Htoo and Glenda Giesbrecht.

The 26 young people who attended enjoyed a wonderful time of reconnecting and sharing memories. There were also many expressions of gratitude for the firm faith foundation that the students received while attending this special classroom.

Mrs. Brenda Wiebe shared a devotion with the students during the reunion based on thoughts Mr. Charach had presented to the class many years earlier. The students were reminded to read their bibles, stay in the word, pray (and keep praying), and go to church so as to continue building each other up in faith.

It was a day of reconnections and encouragement as former students, teachers and staff members reunited and reminisced, seven years after the TLC closed it’s doors.
