Chapel Focus on Friendship

Jesus provides us with a commandment that captures the meaning of true discipleship in Luke 10:27 “. “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Our recent Kindergarten to Grade 6 Friendship Chapel focused on these two simple yet profound directives: to love God wholeheartedly and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

On Friday, February 9, 2024, our community gathered to celebrate friendship and were challenged to love others well. Through songs, poems and skits presented by our K-6 students, guests were given practical examples of how to Biblically love others. The Chapel served as a reminder to follow Jesus’ example by serving others humbly and sacrificially.

Guests enjoyed the Grade 3 Choir singing “Friends Forever”, and poems from, 1H and 3S. Our Middle Years classrooms (5H and 6S) presented on showing God’s love to friends and gave examples of Biblical friendship. The Chapel wrapped up with “What a Friend” from 2F and closing thoughts from Principal Bryan Schroeder.

Thank you to our classrooms and teachers for reinforcing God’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves. As we prioritize God and find our fulfillment and purpose in Him, we will be equipped to love well, and call our neighbors “friends”.
