A Celebration of Generations at our Grandparents ChapelThere is a special feeling that fills a room when the youngest members of our community perform for their biggest fans. Last week, our hearts were full as we hosted one of our favorite traditions of the year: the Kindergarten to Grade 6 Grandparents Chapel.
From the moment our guests of honor arrived, the energy in the building shifted to one of pure joy. Whether it was the frantic waving from students on stage to their grandparents in the pews, or the proud smiles mirrored back at them, the connection was unmistakable.
Our students worked incredibly hard to prepare a program that combined poetry, scripture, and song to bless our guests. The performances were a beautiful reflection of the “bridge” between generations:
- The Grade 3 Choir kicked things off with “Let’s Go See Our Grandparents.”
- KT & KG (Kindergarten) brought the house down with their sweet reflections in “What is a Grandparent?” and “The Most Special People of All.”
- 1H (Grade 1) touched everyone’s hearts with their presentation, “Handprints on Our Heart.”
- 5G (Grade 5) shared a meaningful drama titled “Roots that Reach.”
- 6F (Grade 6) shared about the legacy shared between us, titled “The Bridge Between Us.”
After chapel our hallways were buzzing as grandparents headed to their grandchildren’s classrooms. The “backstage pass” gave students the chance to give personal tours of their recent work and introduce their grandparents to their teachers and friends. Seeing these generations connect over a desk, project or a recent artwork is meaningful. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the intergenerational community and prayer that supports our students every day. We are thankful for the spiritual heritage, mentorship, and care that LCS students receive from their grandparents and/or other significant seniors in their lives.
The morning concluded in the Small Gym, where stories were shared over coffee and pastries from the High Tea Bakery. It was the perfect end to a morning defined by gratitude and family.
To all the grandparents who joined us: Thank you. Your presence, your wisdom, and your support mean the world to us. We love having you as such a vital part of our LCS community!
