Combating Poverty with Warmth this Christmas

Grade 2 students at Linden Christian annually take part in a Mitten Tree Ministry during the Christmas season. Winnipeg has one of the highest child poverty rates in Canada and many children go to school without the proper winter gear to endure our harsh winters.

Each year our Grade 2 classrooms ask students to bring in a pair of brand new mittens or gloves and place them on the “Mitten Tree” in the Main School Hallway. This outreach project runs from December 2 – December 16.

Donated mittens will be gathered up and dropped off at a local fire hall to be distributed to children in need in Winnipeg this winter.

Thanks to our Grade 2 families for helping to keep children warm this Christmas!
