Community Courtyard Ribbon CuttingSnow in October didn’t stop us from celebrating our donor community and the completion of our recent capital campaign. Administration, architects, property staff, student council and donors gathered on a blustery October day to officially open our Community Courtyard. The ceremony on October 13, 2022 included an update on work completed, a prayer of dedication, the ribbon cutting by our Student Council presidential team and lunch.
Head of School Robert Charach noted “LCS is about Education built on relationships and we hope this courtyard will contribute to the building of many wonderful connections for our students.”
The addition to LCS was built in 2010 and for the past 12 years the courtyard area consisted of river rock and a few picnic tables. We are thankful to David Wagner and Elizabeth Christiansen for re-imagining our outdoor space and to J. D. Penner for bringing the plan to life. Derek Kroeker, Operations Manager at LCS and Darrell Grahn from Grant Property were also instrumental in organizing the many details required to make this project a reality.
We are so encouraged and grateful for the generous response to our Community Courtyard campaign. Thank you LCS families for stepping up with open hearts! It was encouraging to see our community come together to make this dream a reality.
LCS students have been loving the new space. It has been wonderful to see them visiting, eating lunch, doing homework and enjoying the new gathering space.
