Edmonton Experience for Performing Arts Students

Grade 9 and 10 Performing Arts students travelled to Edmonton from April 14-18, 2024. Choirs, ensembles, bands, and jazz bands had the opportunity to perform, take in concerts and workshops, and visit Edmonton sites during the five day trip.

Band students performed at the Winspear Centre and our choirs performed at the All Saints Cathedral on April 15. Workshops were enjoyed and band students had the opportunity to visit the Telus World of Science. The day concluded with taking in a concert by the Royal Canadian Artillery Band.

Choir students enjoyed the Science Centre while band students took in separate sectionals for their instruments on April 16. Students experienced the Edmonton Funicular and explored Whyte Ave. Our Jazz Band performing at the YardBird Suite (Edmonton’s Premier Jazz Venue) was a highlight for many of our travelling students. The group enjoyed a concert by the Philippine Madrigal Singers that included a mass choir piece with 550 singers (including our LCS students) in the evening!

The last day of the trip was full of fun at West Edmonton Mall. Students shopped and enjoyed rides at Galaxyland and the Waterpark. A Dinner Theatre event marked the final outing for our Grade 9-10 Performing Arts students.

Many memories were made on the trip and we are thankful for the leadership of our Performing Arts Director Kim Neufeld, Band teacher Bobbie Fast, Vice Principal of Senior Years Andrew Fast and our staff chaperones.
