From Wings to World Stage: LCS Alumnus Matt Dunstone Captures First Brier Title

The Linden Christian School community is celebrating Class of 2013 LCS graduate Matt Dunstone on his victory at the Canadian men’s curling championship.

On Sunday night in St. John’s, NL, Dunstone and his Manitoba rink (including Colton Lott, E.J. Harnden, and Ryan Harnden) defeated four-time champion Kevin Koe of Alberta with a decisive 6-3 victory to claim the 2026 Brier title.

For the LCS family, seeing Matt hoist the iconic Brier Tankard was a full-circle moment. Many will remember the 2011 Provincial High School Curling Championship, where Matt led the LCS team to a provincial banner.

According to CBC Sports, Dunstone was nearly flawless in the 2026 Brier final, shooting an incredible 94% throughout the match. The game turned in the 7th end when Matt made a spectacular “tap and roll” to score three points.

With this victory, Team Dunstone has officially earned the right to wear the Maple Leaf as Team Canada. They will travel to Ogden, Utah, to compete in the 2026 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship, held at the Weber County Ice Sheet.

The tournament begins on March 27 – April 4, 2026. As Matt takes to the world stage, he carries with him the support of his former teachers, classmates and the LCS community.

Congratulations, Matt!
