Honour Band Selections 2024Four Performing Arts students auditioned and were selected to the Manitoba Band Association’s Intermediate Honour Band. Congratulations to Angelia M. (Grade 9 – Flute), Henry H. (Grade 10 – Trumpet), Veronica J. (Grade 9 – French Horn), and Evan Z. (Grade 9 – Percussion). The MBA’s annual provincial honour band program was established in 1976 and provides an opportunity for outstanding junior, intermediate and senior instrumentalists to gather for an enriching and inspiring three day concert band experience. Our students were selected based on the strength of their recorded auditions that included several scales and two etudes. They will perform at Maples Collegiate on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 7:00 pm.
Congratulations to Grade 7 student Aria F.(Tuba). She has been accepted into the the MBA’s Junior Honour Band based on the strength of her audition and will also perform on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Maples Collegiate. Aria also auditioned and was accepted into the Soho Sound Canadian Honour Band for students in Grades 6-9. This National Canadian Junior Honour Band partners with esteemed university music educators from across the country in the virtual preparation and presentation of concert band works, under the direction of Cheryl and Darryl Ferguson. The experience will culminate with the international release of a professionally mastered performance, compiled using student recordings, under the auspices of the Coalition for Music Education on Music Monday, May 6, 2024.
