K-8 Students Run for Cancer Research

Linden Christian School, along with 9000 schools across Canada, had the incredible opportunity to, once again, support Terry’s goal of helping to find a cure to cancer.

Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in 1980 in St. John’s, Newfoundland with the goal of running across Canada to fundraise for cancer research. Terry made it all the way to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he had to stop as his cancer returned. Despite this, Terry’s legacy has persisted for over 40 years with his Marathon of Hope signifying resilience, humility, hope and courage.

This year, our students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 participated in the annual Terry Fox School Run on September 26 to 28. The theme for this year’s run was “I’m not a quitter.” Students were invited to bring a loonie, toonie or any donation to support cancer research and raised $1245.65. We are grateful that we were able to be a part of carrying on Terry’s dream.
