Little Artists Dive Into Acrylic Pouring

Our youngest artists recently experienced a vibrant and messy adventure in the Grade 1-3 after-school SOFA Art Class! Students explored the exciting, fluid world of acrylic pouring, a unique technique that blends artistic fun with unexpected beauty.

Moving beyond traditional brushes, these young creators embraced the hands-on process of acrylic pouring. Each student carefully selected their colour palette before learning how to drip, mix, and move the paint across a stretched canvas. The process was both exciting and unpredictable, allowing the vibrant colours to interact and create stunning, abstract designs as they flowed.

Students were also introduced to fundamental concepts of colour theory. They observed firsthand how primary colours could blend to form secondary colours and how certain hues complemented or contrasted with each other on the canvas. It was a dynamic, real-time lesson in art principles, wrapped up in a highly engaging activity.

The classroom was buzzing with excitement as each artist watched their unique piece take shape. The final products include a collection of one-of-a-kind abstract works, proving that creativity truly knows no age limit.

These after-school opportunities are a fantastic way for students to explore God’s world through creative expression and develop skills that extend far beyond the art room.
