Renovation of the Heart: Senior Years Students Deepen Their Faith at RetreatOn Thursday, October 16, 2025, LCS Grade 11 and 12 students embarked on a day retreat designed to focus their hearts and minds on God. The theme for the day was “Renovation of the Heart,” drawn from the powerful prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21.
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power… to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
It was inspiring to see 95 dedicated students embrace this opportunity for spiritual growth. Eight committed staff members accompanied the students throughout the day.
The retreat provided engaging activities to deepen and encourage our students’ faith.
- Worship and Teaching: Students participated in uplifting times of worship and received valuable spiritual guidance through teaching sessions led by guest speaker Scott Poirier from Christian Life Church.
- Serving His Creation: Students had a hands-on opportunity to honour God by serving and caring for His creation through a tree planting experience at Maple Grove Park.
- Fellowship and Fun: The day included lively gym games to build community, followed by a delicious pizza lunch. The retreat concluded with a supper hosted at Soul Sanctuary.
The one day retreat was a wonderful opportunity for our students to step away from their busy schedules, intentionally focus their lives on Christ, and allow Him to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. We look forward to seeing the fruits of this “Renovation” in the lives of our high school students.
