“We Stand on Their Shoulders”: LCS Community Marks Remembrance Day with Special ChapelThe Linden Christian School community gathered for a meaningful Remembrance Day Chapel, themed “We Stand On Their Shoulders.” on Friday, November 7. It was moving to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our nation.
Our students played a central role in the service, helping us all reflect on the cost of freedom:
Through thoughtful recitations and poems “We Remember” and “Lest We Forget,” students expressed their gratitude and commitment to honouring the past.
A beautiful recitation of Psalm 23, “The Shepherd’s Psalm,” brought a message of comfort and divine protection amidst life’s challenges.
The Grade 11-12 Drama class presented a powerful and moving performance highlighting the complex reality of soldiers returning home, the deep impact of trauma, and the essential need for our Saviour’s guidance and healing in these difficult journeys.
We were privileged to hear from school parent and service member, Warrant Officer Matthew Zukowski. His insights offered our community a valuable perspective on duty, dedication, and the commitment of our military families.
Student Council Co-Presidents Noa D. and Cade F. did a great job of welcoming our community and guiding the service throughout the morning. Senior Years student Elswidih B. led our community in “O Canada” and Henry H. performed “Last Post” and “Reveille”, bookending a collective Moment of Silence.
Thank you to our students for their respectful participation and for helping us keep the memory of those who have served and sacrificed alive. May we always remember the shoulders on which we stand and the price of the peace we enjoy.
