Soaring to New Heights: LCS Welcomes Captain WingoLinden Christian School marked a historic milestone today during a high-energy chapel. In a surprise announcement from Student Council that balanced heartfelt nostalgia with future excitement, our Senior Years community said a fond farewell to its long-serving parrot mascot and officially introduced the next generation of school spirit: Captain Wingo.
We Honoured our Legacy!
The transition began with a tribute to the original Wingo. For years, the parrot mascot has been a staple at pep rallies, Wings athletic games, and STUCO events, building a legacy of memories for our students.
Reflecting on the change, the presentation drew inspiration from 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This served as a reminder that while we cherish the foundations built in the past, growth and renewal are essential parts of the LCS journey.
The Grand Reveal
After a respectful “hasta la vista” to our parrot friend, the atmosphere shifted. With a high-octane soundtrack and cheering students, the new mascot took the stage. After passing the LCS flag from our former mascot to the new, Captain Wingo, 2.0 made tours around the school, introducing himself to our younger students. Many high fives, lots of curiosity, and even some hugs were enjoyed by K-4 students.

Captain Wingo is more than just a costume; he is a symbol of our school voice and our future. Whether he is leading a chant at a Wings home game or cheering alongside students at a pep rally, our new mascot stands as a reminder of the strength and unity of the Linden Christian community.
