Students Excel at Manitoba Schools Science Symposium

Ten LCS Grade 7 students and two Grade 5 students competed at the Manitoba Schools Science Symposium at the University of Manitoba during April 26-28, 2024. All twelve of our representing students came home with awards and three students won best overall project awards. We are so proud of our students’ achievements.

Congratulations to Nash S. for his gold medal and for receiving a grand prize of Best Overall Chemistry Project at the Junior Level for his project “Flammable Foods”.

Congratulations to Avery N! She received a gold medal and a grand prize for Best Overall Plant Science Project at the Junior Level for her project “Human Relief, Plant Belief”.

Congratulations to Ayda S. for receiving a gold medal for her project ” To Wash or Not to Wash”.

The following students received silver medals: Ayomipo O.- “Heartbeats and Melodies”, Laura A. – “Most Effective Mouthwash”, Brielle M. – “Breaking the Ice”, Iwinosa A. – “Bathroom Bacteria”, Johann V. – “Which Moisturizer Works Best on Dry Skin?”, Avanya D. – “Reflex Race: Audio vs. Visual”. David L. received a bronze medal for his project ” Symphony of Memory”.

We also had two Grade 5 students compete and receive awards. Salomé G. won a gold MSSS medal and was awarded a Grand Prize for the Best Overall Chemistry Project at the Elementary Level for her project “Sticky, Stretchy Slime”. Congratulations to Kheya H. for her silver medal project “Chasing Colours”.
