Western Social a Community Experience

LCS Senior Years students recently traded their textbooks for denim and square dancing at our Spring Western Dance.

The scenic Gates on Roblin provided a great backdrop for our Grade 9–12 students to lean into the prairie spirit. From the moment the first pair of cowboy boots hit the floor, it was clear this wasn’t going to be your average school dance.

The evening was packed with more than just music. Outside, students had the opportunity to meet local ponies, adding an authentic rustic charm to the night. Students also kept the competitive spirit alive with a corn on the cob eating contest and lasso competition, thanks to our Student Council.

We brought in a professional caller who taught our students how to square dance. The high-energy atmosphere created by DJ Kulik (LCS Chemistry teacher) was also a highlight for our students. His top-tier light show had everyone joining the circle.

While the students were busy mastering their footwork, the staff at the venue were taking notice. The owner of The Gates shared feedback regarding the event and the LCS community as a whole.

“That was the best DJ and light show we have ever had at the Gates. And we’ve had some high-end events here, so that is something to say,” noted the owner.

“I happened to have an LCS family in the restaurant whose kids had attended LCS at the same time as the event. The parents could not stop complimenting how the LCS staff are such exceptional educators and come together to provide exceptional experiences for the kids. I witnessed that firsthand tonight.”

This event was a beautiful reminder of what makes the LCS Senior Years experience so special. It isn’t just about the curriculum; it’s about the community, the dedicated staff who go the extra mile, and the “exceptional experiences” that stay with our students long after they hang up their hats.

Thank you to everyone who made the Spring Western Dance such a resounding success!
