Acquisition of Skills in Art Class

Grade 12 art students are currently practicing hand building methods with clay. Wedging (taking air pockets out of the clay) was explored and they are now in the process of producing pinch pots.
Students began with a ball of clay, placed their thumb in the center of it, and then pinched the sides with their fingers. They will continue to repeat the pattern of pinching and rotating the clay to pinch again, leading to the creation of a bowl.
Each unique design will be embellished, decorated and glazed to produce a finished product.
