Varsity Girls Basketball Update

This year our athletes have enjoyed returning to sports without any restrictions. The LCS Varsity Girls team is made up of four Grade 12 students and seven Grade 11 students. Our Varsity Girls have experienced an exciting season to date! They came out strong, winning their first AAA tournament and they have only been defeated by one team during league games. They are currently ranked first in our zone.

Early in the season our girls were ranked first in the province as well. Due to significant injuries for numerous players, we are currently ranked seventh. It is encouraging to see how our small team succeeds as they put each other first, play as a team, strive for excellence and serve as ambassadors for Christ. Our Wings play hard, enjoy the competition, and each other’s company. All athletes are committed to honouring God and giving Him the glory on and off the court.

Our Varsity Girls team is coached by Laurie Curry, Hailey Glor ’13 and Megan Weiler ’21 . It is wonderful to have alumnae return to invest in the lives of our athletes and share their passion for the sport of basketball.

On Wednesday, February 22 the Varsity Girls played their final game against Gray Academy in the Zone 12 AAA Championship and took the competition 54 to 26. The qualifying Varsity tournament is scheduled for March 3-4 in Steinbach. You can find the tournament draw here.
