Winnipeg Music Festival Awards 2024

Numerous LCS choirs and choral groups received awards at the recent Winnipeg Music Festival.

Our Grade 3 choir is receiving the Sir Hugh Roberton Trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding performance by a School Choir in K-Grade 8 in classes 8151,8171 and 8191. They are also receiving the Helen Derksen Memorial Shield for the most outstanding performance of a sacred selection by a School Choir K-Grade 6.

Our Grade 4 choir is the recipient of the Annie Pullar Trophy for the most outstanding performance by a School Choir in K-Grade 6 by a Canadian Composer.

The Grade 8 choir is the recipient of the Salisbury House Trophy. This trophy is awarded for the most outstanding performance by a School Choir in Grades 7-9.

Our Grade 9-12 auditioned choral groups (Vocal Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble, Male Chorus and Chamber Singers) were chosen to be the recipients of the Muriel Waldie Memorial Bursary. This award is for the most outstanding performance by a School Choir in Grades 7 through 12, of a selection by a Canadian Composer. The adjudicator commented on our school’s commitment to these Canadian works and chose to award this to the Grade 9-12 groups as a whole.

Congratulations to our choirs and choral groups, and to our Performing Arts teachers Mrs. Kim Neufeld, Mrs. Janna Reid and Mrs. Brenda Johnson.
