Community Comes Together at the Jazz Café

The Performing Arts department at Linden Christian School hosted a live Jazz Café for the first time since 2020. Guests to the event enjoyed dessert, a casual atmosphere and entertainment from LCS jazz ensembles. Our Grade 7-12 band and choral students performed and served tables throughout the evening while guests enjoyed visiting and a large selection of delicious desserts.

Middle Years music teachers Mrs. Janna Reid and Mrs. Marla Friesen, and Senior Years music teachers Mrs. Kim Neufeld and Mrs. Bobbie Fast led their ensembles through two shows (6:30 pm and 8:30 pm) on January 19, 2023. Performances included crowd favourites like “Louie, Louie”, “Pink Panther”, “Blue Skies”, and “La Bamba”, as well as a new welcome song from the Grade 7-8 Honour Choir. Over 50 Middle Years and 50 Senior Years students performed throughout the evening for over 300 audience members.

Performing Arts students took initiative with hosting, cleaning and coffee service, alumni returned to help with lights and sound for the evening, students stepped up to accompany various ensembles, and many students bravely took on a solo throughout the evening.

The cooperation and camaraderie between students was an inspiration. Thank you to our parent and alumni volunteers, as well as all of our Performing Arts staff and students for a fantastic evening!
