Demonstrating Love on Valentines Day!

Loving God and loving others on Valentine’s Day!

This year, our Grade 4 students participated in a Valentine’s Day outreach project to bless the residents of Union Gospel Mission.

Each student was asked to bring in $5.00 – $10.00 that they earned on their own (doing chores for their families, sharing from their allowance, etc.) Our three Grade 4 classrooms collected a total of $428.00 and purchased items to create 40 large Valentine’s bags for the 22 men, 18 women, and one child living at Union Gospel Mission. Each bag included 2 pairs of warm socks, gloves or a toque, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a chocolate bar and a candy bag.

The gift bags also included personal handwritten notes of encouragement from the students to the residents. Additionally, the Grade 4s brought in 35 tins of food, 13 large tins of coffee, packages of toothpaste, floss, toothbrushes, soap, body wash and shavers to gift to the mission. New clothing items were also purchased that will be distributed at the UGM drop-in centre.

The 40 Valentine gift bags and donations will be dropped off at Union Gospel Mission on Valentines Day.

Taking initiative earning money, growing in generosity, and writing hand written Valentines…what a beautiful way for our students to share God’s love and grow as compassionate community members.
