Top Math Contest PerformancesCongratulations to our first round of Senior Years math award recipients! Three LCS students were awarded with top performance medals and 11 students were honoured with certificates of distinction.
Students in Grades 9-11 recently had the opportunity to participate in the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat math contests. Mathematics and computing contests are a fun way for students to grow their problem-solving skills, build confidence and get creative with math and computer science.
LCS Students who received certificated of distinction included:
Grade 9: Quanyi Z, Steve Y, Angelia M, Sally L, Alex W. and Kelly S.
Grade 10: Cade F, Henry H. and Nilesh D.
Grade 11: Micah C. and Philo H.
Pascal Contest/Grade 9 : 23 students participated from LCS and 820 total participated in the province. LCS ranked 3rd in our zone and 4th in the province! Congratulations to Quanyi Z. who placed 8th in our zone and 8th in the province, receiving a medal for top performance at LCS!
Eleven of our students in Grade 8 and 9 were in the zone top 100 and 8 of these were in the provincial top 100.
Cayley Contest/Grade 10: Six students participated from LCS, with 455 participants in the province. LCS ranked 4th in our zone and 6th in the province. Congratulations to Cade F. on placing third in the zone and 4th in the province. He received a medal for the top performance at LCS.
Four of our students were in the zone top 100 and three of those were in the provincial top 30.
Fermat contest/Grade 11: Five students participated from LCS, with 468 participants in the province. LCS ranked 4th in our zone and 7th in the province. Congratulations to Micah C. who placed 6th in the zone and 13th in the province. He received a medal for the top performance at LCS.
Four of our students placed in the zone top 100 and three of those were in the provincial top 100.
